A lecture on Chinese Paper-cutting was given by Huang Yedi for international students on May 17th. It’s a part of the Chinese Culture Series offered by the College for Overseas Education. The lecture took the charm of Chinese paper-cutting to the international students successfully.

In the lecture, Huang introduced the history, types, themes, and cultural significance of Chinese paper-cutting, showed the representative works and different features between what from the North and South China, and the basic steps and patterns of paper-cutting. After appreciating exquisite sample works, international students took scissors to make their own works. The pandas and the window decorations they made looked very cute and colorful. Through the lecture, international students got not only the knowledge of paper-cutting, but also the joy that folk arts bring to life.
