COE held an online forum on development and operation of general public elective courses for international students on April 14th. The leaders and staff members from Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) and COE, the course instructors attended the forum. Prof Jiang, the deputy Dean of COE, modulated the forum.

Prof Jiang offered an opening brief on COE’s relentless efforts in organizing the curriculum design for 13 undergraduate programs, developing and organizing the general public elective courses for the past fall semester in 2021 during the pandemic.

The course instructors from different colleges presented their respective design and content of the courses, including Introduction to Astrophysics, The Fascinating Entomology, World Music and Chinese Dietary Culture.

After the presentation, the OAA leaders commented on the presentations. Deputy director Dai Yunlong and deputy director Yang Guoqing both acknowledged the courses design and suggested enhancing the contents with rich Chinese culture elements while considering an integrated solution for both Chinese and international students.

Zhang Yin, Dean of COE, affirmed the quality of the course proposal. She advised the instructors providing a more holistic understanding of humanities and sciences through the courses.  The content of the courses should spread the excellent traditional culture and establish the image of contemporary and rising China.
