Successful Conclusion of “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp for Portuguese Secondary School Students in China
On the afternoon of July 30th, 2024 “Chinese Bridge” summer camp for Portuguese secondary school students in China hosted by Yangzhou University comes to its successful conclusion in cheers and touches.

Mr. Yu Weidong, Consultant of Division for International Cooperation & Exchange, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and Prof. Jiao Xin’an, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yangzhou University, attend the closing ceremony and deliver speeches. Prof. Han Jie, vice president of Yangzhou University, presides over the ceremony.
Prof. Jiao states in his speech that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Portuguese diplomatic relations. China and Portugal enjoy a long history of friendship and the two peoples have been friendly for a long time. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, Yangzhou University has always maintained and devoted to deepening its close ties and cooperation with Portugal in education. The success of the summer camp has further deepened the friendship between China and Portugal. He expects the Portuguese teachers and students to be bridges and envoys of Sino-Portuguese cultural exchanges upon returning to Portugal, and welcomes them to exchange and study at YZU again in the future.

Mr. Yu Weidong expresses congratulations on the success of the summer camp. He states that “Chinese Bridge” is not only a bridge for language learning, but also a bridge for cultural exchange. In the past two weeks, 50 Portuguese secondary school students have studied and experienced at YZU, not only improving their Chinese language proficiency and exploring Chinese culture, but also feeling the kindness and friendliness of the Chinese people and the great achievements of reform and opening up in China. He hopes the experience of the summer camp will become a valuable treasure for them and that they will play an active role in Sino-Portuguese friendship in the future.

Maria Pinto, the representative of Portuguese teachers, expresses gratitude to Yangzhou University for diligent efforts during the summer camp. She states that the summer camp provides a valuable platform for Portuguese secondary school students to learn about the diversity of Chinese traditional culture and social development achievements. They learn Chinese language and take part in many cultural experience activities, and the day spent with Chinese families is unforgettable for them. She believes that this experience will have a profound impact on the students’ lives.

Leaders attending the ceremony present certificates to the Portuguese teachers and students one by one, and view student achievements such as Chinese speech and Chinese song chorus with great interest.
