古时候，有一个非常有名的书法家，他的字之所以写得好，不仅是因为他有一定的天赋，而且因为他刻苦地练习。

为了把字练好，他无论做什么，心里都总是想着字体的结构，而且还不停地用手指在衣服上比划。时间久了，连身上的衣服都划破了。

有一天，皇帝去祭祀，让这位书法家把祝词写在一块木板上，再派工人雕刻。雕刻的工人看到木板时，十分惊讶，原来书法家写的字竟然透入木头三分多的深度。工人不禁赞叹道：“您的字，真的是入木三分呀！”
