For international students who cannot continue the study due to personal reasons, he or she should submit a written application and fill in the “Application Form for International Students to Suspend the Study in Yangzhou University” and “Notice for International Students to Suspend the Study in Yangzhou University”. After being approved, students can suspend the study. The application for suspension shall be handled within one week before the beginning of each semester or one week before the end of each semester. Students who intend to suspend the study due to health issues can apply at any time.

The period of suspension is generally one year and students can continuously suspend the study after obtaining the approval. If students suspend the study in the middle of the semester, the present semester will be included in the suspension period. The sum of cumulative years of suspension and actual years of study shall not exceed the total study period stipulated by the school. After completing the suspension procedures, students should go to Division of Exist & Entry Administration of Yangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau to change the Residence Permit and leave the university within 2 weeks. For resuming the study, students should apply 2 weeks before the end of the current semester and once he or she obtains the approval they can return to school. Within one week after coming back, students shall complete the procedures of re-entering the school, and complete the “Application Form for International Students to Resume the Study in Yangzhou University” and “Notice for International Students to Resume the Study in Yangzhou University”. Those who do not go through the procedures for reentering the school after the end of suspension shall be regarded as automatically dropping out.
